Mountain Cookin' with Missy's Vanilla Buttercream Frosting is a delicious topping!
Kitchenware
- 1 Bowl - Large
- 1 Spoon, spatula or pasta fork
- 1 Hand mixer or stand mixer
Ingredients
-
3 sticks unsalted butter room temperature
-
6 c powdered sugar
-
1/3 c heavy cream room temperature
-
3 tsp pure vanilla extract
-
1/8 tsp salt optional, but cuts sweetness
Directions
In a large bowl using a hand or stand mixer, beat the butter until creamy (about 2 minutes) (3 sticks unsalted butter)
Add the powdered sugar, cream, vanilla and salt with the mixer running on low (6 c powdered sugar, 1/3 c heavy cream, 3 tsp pure vanilla extract, 1/8 tsp salt)
Increase to high speed and beat for about 3 full minutes.
Add more powdered sugar if frosting is too thin, more cream if it’s too thick, or a little more salt if it’s too sweet. (6 c powdered sugar, 1/8 tsp salt)
This will frost a 2 to 3-layer cake
Recipe Note
Tip: For Chocolate buttercream add 1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder with the sugar.
