Mountain Cookin' with Missy's Hot Dog Chili Sauce recipe -- perfect for the Fourth of July, delicious enough to serve any time of year.


Kitchenware

  • 1 Heavy saucepan with lid
  • 1 Spoon or spatula
Hot Dog Chili Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef

  • 2 c water

  • 1 chopped onion

  • One 6oz can tomato paste

  • 1/2 c ketchup

  • 1 tbs cumin

  • 1 tbs chili powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a heavy saucepan (or our Dutch Oven) on medium heat, add beef, water and onion. (1 lb lean ground beef, 2 c water, 1 chopped onion)

  2. Stir and bring to a boil.

  3. Let boil for 5 min.

  4. Reduce heat to low and add the rest of the ingredients.

  5. Stir together till combined. (1 6oz can tomato paste, 1/2 c ketchup, 1 tbs cumin, 1 tbs chili powder, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp red pepper flakes, Salt and Pepper to taste)

  6. Cover and let simmer for about 10 min. Adjust seasonings to taste.
